Jio laptop launched in India for less than Rs 20,000, but not everyone can buy it yet

Jio has been working on an affordable laptop for the past few years. Now, Jio Laptop, called Jio Book has finally gone official. The company has quietly unveiled the Jio Book laptop, but it is not yet available to everyone in the country. Now what does that mean?
The Jio laptop is currently available for purchase on the government e-marketplace (GeM), which means that only government employees will be able to buy it for now. The listing was first spotted by 91Mobiles. The device is listed at a price of Rs 19,500. In terms of design, the Jio Book offers a plastic build and there is a Jio logo on the lid.
The question is, when will the JioBook be available to everyone? Well, the company is yet to confirm the official availability of the Jio laptop. Notably, the Jio laptop was showcased at the India Mobile Congress (IMC) event 2022. This suggests that the laptop will be available to everyone very soon. Since Jio will launch 5G services for 4 cities this Diwali, we can expect the company to officially launch Jio laptops at the same time.
Right now only government employees will be able to buy Jio laptops from GeM. We believe that the laptop model that is available with the same specifications and price is available to all.
Reliance Jio says that the laptop is made in India. As far as the specifications are concerned, the Jio Book laptop comes with an 11.6-inch HD display with 1366×768 pixels resolution. The laptop is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor paired with Adreno 610 GPU for graphics. Now, since the Snapdragon chip is quite old, gamers couldn't be more excited about the new Jio Book. Well, neither Jio is really targeting gamers. Looking at the specs and price, Jio laptop is meant for students or first time laptop users.
The Jio laptop is equipped with just 2GB of RAM, while the storage details are not yet clear. On the software front, Jio Book is running a custom version of Jio OS. Some of the other features of the Jio laptop include - an HD camera, and some pre-installed apps including - a Microsoft Ads browser, and more.
