Australia scored seven goals in the five-match Test series against India

Australia won the first two matches of the five-match Test series.

India lost to Australia for the second consecutive match (4-7), trailing the five-match Test series 0-2. The first match was quite entertaining, both teams played intense hockey, but after the start of the fourth quarter, the second match was a one-sided affair that decided the fate of the match.

India put Australia on the backfoot with the first goal inside the first four minutes, but the Kookaburras always fought hard and converted a PC for the fourth try in a row. India denied Australia three PCs but couldn't level the score at 1-1 in the fourth.

Bad second half

The Australians scored three goals in the second half and were superb on the counter-attack but a goal from Hardik Singh gave India some relief after trailing by just two goals at the end of the first half. In the third quarter, India dominated from the start and PC scored. Rahil deflected the ball from Harmanpreet Singh which proved crucial and converted it into a goal. India didn't let the ball loose too much in defense and cautiously denied Australia any goals from the quarter.

The fourth quarter was painful for the Indian defense who conceded two goals in the first four minutes. The Indians looked poor with poor passing accuracy, allowing Australia to score freely. Glover continued where he left off in the first match, providing an assist and also scoring a goal. In the end Harmanpreet Singh scored the second goal of the match. The poor performance of the Indian defense in the last quarter was the talking point of the match, apart from that the team did well.

Defense is a concern from the FIH Pro League and the search is on for another drag-flicker. Graham Reid still has just three matches left before next year's World Cup in India and a solution must be found.
